West Parish Burying Ground
West Parish Burying Ground, also known as River Street Burying Ground, is an historic cemetery located at River and Cherry streets in West Newton, Massachusetts, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Second Church in Newton, its original owner, was the West Parish, the Second Church in Newton.
Notable grave sites
- Rev. William Greenough, died November 10, 1831, first pastor of the Second Church in Newton.[2]
Present ownership
West Parish Burying Ground is owned today by the City of Newton, which lists it on its assessment rolls as Old West Newton Cemetery with 70,560 square feet (6,555 m2),[3] but other city webpages list it as River Street Cemetery.[4]
